The Acceptance and Integration Training® Foundations Course

As a young therapist, I aspired to become masterful at helping people find healing. In order to do so, I knew I must dedicate myself to training and studying under the very best teachers and mentors. I immersed myself in various therapeutic techniques in hopes of bringing transformative change to my clients. And while I did experience some success, I couldn’t help thinking that there had to be something more.

Then in 2016, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Acceptance and Integration Training® (AAIT™) by its founder Melanie McGhee, LCSW and quickly became curious about this all-together-different approach to therapy. Attending my first AAIT™ weekend workshop with Melanie, I was eager to learn some new skills to take back to my clients. What I could never have anticipated was that my own well-being would be forever impacted by my experience that weekend. During the workshop, I had the opportunity to participate in AAIT™ with Melanie firsthand and experienced a grief and loss issue that had plagued me for years suddenly feel like nothing more than air. This was my “AH HA!” moment and it was at this time that I knew had to learn everything I possibly could about AAIT™.

I went on to complete a Clinical Fellowship in AAIT™. These advanced skills enabled me to in turn establish a thriving private practice. Thanks to AAIT™, I’ve been able to design the meaningful and fulfilling career I was seeking and most importantly bring deep, lasting healing to my clients.

I have been so impacted by AAIT™ both professionally and personally that I have dedicated myself to sharing these groundbreaking methods with other mental health professionals.

What is Included

In AAIT Foundations, you will begin discovering how a PRACTICAL understanding of the principles of AAIT could inform your current practice. These principles will guide your work by helping you understand the mechanisms of change that fuel this promising model.

  • Self acceptance is both a means and measure of well-being.
  • Taking responsibility for and tending to our inner state is the source of our freedom.
  • Resolving reactivity reveals higher states of consciousness.
  • Integration of two opposing states can alleviate psychological suffering.
  • The real self is not an object or the sum of a narrative. The real self is a being.
  • The non-dual states of empty consciousness are an indication and mechanism of transformation. Cultivating an awareness of this space contributes to increases in present focused attention, empathy, self-compassion and more skillful choices.

You will become more at ease with the natural flow of a typical AAIT™ session. The phases help guide your work with clients. Helping clients discover the limitations of their false self, collaborating with your clients so they can achieve their goals quickly. The power of integration is alleviating psychological distress by integrating two opposing states that is driving unwanted states. Embodiment practice is teaching clients how to take of their own inner states of being between sessions which helps them discover new content and directing their awareness to change and ways to grow in those changes.

Here are the methods you will learn that were developed by Zivorad Slavinski and Ivana Tomanovich. By the end of the weekend, through observation, partner practice and solo practice, you will be able to confidently use these methods with your clients immediately.

Basic PEAT

Basic PEAT (BP) can be used to eliminate unsatisfying states caused by every day stressors, addiction cravings, anger, anxious states, future worries, past events and more. BP is one method that can easily be taught to your clients.

Deep PEAT 4

Deep PEAT4 is used to integrate 2 opposing psychological and interpersonal distress that is caused by an event such as negatively charged memories, bad experiences, defeat, etc. DP4 is very flexible and can be used creatively. It’s also a great method for clients who experience emotional flooding.

Deep PEAT 4 Shadow Integration

Deep PEAT4 Shadow Integration is used to help clients identify aspects of their shadow whether they are conscious or unconscious and integrate their shadow to create wholeness. This is especially useful for anger and resentments at ourselves or towards another person.

Deep PEAT 4 Golden Shadow Integration

Deep PEAT4 Golden Shadow Integration is used to instill qualities and goals that help make them feel easier to access and achieve. It’s a great method to use when a client has moved away from a problem and is ready to move towards a goal.

Finger Tip Method

Finger Tip Method is used to treat traumatic moments. This simple method can break up a traumatic movement by creating distance (then and now) between the client and the traumatic event quickly. The memory of the trauma becomes more of an awareness instead of intruding itself on the individual uninvited.
